

She graduated from Cardoza High School in Washington, DC. She was married to Richard Wesley Fitzhugh for 58 years, who preceded her in death in March 2006. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
She is survived by the following: two children, Gwendolyn Wimberly (Ronald); Debra Thomas (Irving) both of Front Royal; two sisters, Pauline Green, Gurnee, IL, and Frances Graham of Front Royal; one brother, Clifford Tyler (Lela) of Dixmor IL; four grandchildren, Androz Hartridge, Greenbelt, MD, Valencia Terrell, Haleyville, AL, Ervrica Ellis-Muhammad (Freddie), and April Brown (Tariq) both of Suitland, MD; five great-grandchildren, Devaugh Terrell, Haleyville, AL, Shavonte Gilcrest, Washington, DC, Justis and Jelani Ellis-Muhammad and Mianna Brown all of Suitland, MD; a host of nieces and nephews; and two dear and close friends, Sister Sara Wines and Sister Edith Williams, both of Front Royal.
Charlene was a master of solving puzzles especially Cryptograms. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Charlene could be seen in various neighborhoods witnessing and attending bible studies in fashionable coordinated attire all with matching hats.
Charlene had a kind and generous heart with never a harsh word against anyone. She will be thoroughly missed by many.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with Brother Bennison officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church.
