

Mamie Underwood Roy was born in Flint Hill, Virginia on June 12, 1923 to parents Frank Jordan and Cora Underwood. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2014. She was the twin of Mattie, and the sister of seven other siblings.
Mamie resided in Flint Hill, Virginia most of her life and attended the public schools. She was married to the late James Walter Roy, Sr. for 61 years, and from this union was born nine children. She worked as a domestic housekeeper most of her years, and retired as the years rolled on.
From her early years Mamie was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill, Virginia where she was baptized. In later years, as her health declined, she fellowshipped with the Gospel Temple Church of Brunswick, Maryland and was a loving and caring person to all who knew her. She thoroughly enjoyed attending church services, and loved singing and dancing for the Lord.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her loving children, Russell Roy, Sr. (Cordelia), Smitty Roy (Phyllis-Deceased), Pastor Artelia Roy Butler (Bro. Ray), Florence Roy Williams, and five other children, Stanley, James W., Jr., Michael, Dennis, and Cora all preceded her demise. She leaves 22 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren; her faithful in-laws, Charles and Ora Roy; her sister-in-law, Frances Roy; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
