Michael Lee Foster departed his earthly life on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. He was born on February 4, 1950 to the late Aubrey and Virginia Foster in Front Royal, VA. He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Turner. Michael attended Criser High School in Front Royal, VA but later moved to Washington, DC where he eventually found his life partner Eva, started a family and discovered a career with the Smithsonian Institute as a Merchandise Receiver. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.
Michael, affectionately known as “Hermie” to his close friends and relatives, loved to read and was a bit of a history buff. He possessed a wealth of knowledge about a variety of topics and would often recall historical facts while engaged in conversation. Anyone who knew him knows that he was a connoisseur of music and loved to sing. Hermie had an amazing singing voice and in his day could croon with the best of them. He also loved to watch sports, football in particular. It is fitting that his beloved Redskins beat the Cowboys the day before his passing. One of his favorite pastimes was engaging in epic battles of Madden football with anyone who was willing to play. Hermie also loved family cookouts and would often be seen working the grill. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Eva M. Fleming-Foster, two loving daughters, Mickel L. Foster, Aisha S. Taylor (Brian), step-son Debario Fleming, Sr. (Nychelle), father-in-law, Harry L. Fleming, six grandchildren, Camylle Fleming, Tavon Trotter, Debario Fleming, Jr., Kennedy Fleming, Breniya and Brittany Taylor., brother-in laws, DeWitt L. Fleming (Michelle), Harry K. Fleming (Sheila) sister-in-law, Darlene B. Fleming, his special Aunt Margaret King, a host of other aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
