Peggy Brooks Porter

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with the Reverend Douglas Gore presiding. Inurnment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Porter was born in Markham on June 18, 1937, a daughter of the late James and Hattie Walden Brooks. She was a mail handler with the State Department. She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Lewis of Lynn, MA, Frederick Lewis of Warrenton and George Porter of Warrenton; her daughter, Kimberly Lewis of Alexandria; her brothers, Morris Brooks of Hyattsville, MD, Robert Brooks of Waldorf, MD and Wayne Brooks of Front Royal; her sisters, Rosetta Mason of Winchester, Gloria Campbell of Lorton, and Betty Ann Miranda of Front Royal; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her brother James R. Brooks, Jr.
