Born on the 4th of July 1938 in Crystal City, Texas to Fidel Lozano and Victoria, Fred grew up in a large family of hardworking farm laborers. He had nine brothers and sisters: Arnulfo, Federico, Fidel, Manuel, Maria Luisa, Hector, Victor, Mary Esther, and Jesse. They traveled from state to state, following the harvests. Once Fred had completed the 3rd grade, he went to work in the fields to help support his family. The Lozano family was very close. They made beautiful music together in their family band. Fred was an exceptional accordion player.
On December 24th, 1960, Fred married his “Amor Eterno”, C. Yolanda Lozano, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. Soon after, they again affirmed their vows in Fort Collins, Colorado, where they called home. Together, Fred and Yolanda welcomed four beautiful children: Maria in 1962, Sally in 1965, Jose Alfredo “Freddy” in 1968, and Juanita in 1971. Fred was devoted to his family.
Fred was a hardworking man. He was the kind of man who quietly carried the weight of his responsibilities without complaint. He was a good provider. Fred always ensured his family had everything they needed – not just in material things but in love, laughter, and time. His warmth filled the home, and his gentle nature made it easy to go to him with anything. He found joy in the simple moments such as jamming with his family band in the garage, smiling wide as music filled the air. The beat echoed his love for life.
Fred loved playing the accordion in his family band. He enjoyed hosting backyard BBQs, keeping his truck spotless, and, most passionately, sparring with his “perra” Yolanda, and his kids and grandkids in a way that only a man full of love could.
The incredible spirit that lived within Fred will not be forgotten. He will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the family he loved and is survived by beloved wife of 64 years, Yolanda Lozano; his children Maria Nava (José), Sally Sanchez, José Alfredo “Freddy” Lozano (Erika), and Juani Casarez (Richard); grandchildren Tiffany (Tony), Billy, Embert Jr. (Nicole), Gage, Lorenzo (Kara), Mia, Unique, Richard, Enrique, Querida, and Maya; great-grandchildren Tiara, Amadeo, Ariana, Sarea, Eliajah, and Jovanni; and by one great-great granddaughter, Novalee; as well as many close friends and many, many other extended family.
