Ardell passed away peacefully after a short illness and hospice care. Her beloved daughter-in-law, Connie Kabrick and Connie’s husband Chris were at her side along with her very special caretakers at Columbine Care West of Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Ardell was born at home on a farm west of Spencer, Iowa on April 24, 1921. She was the youngest of 10 children born to her parents, Harry Lundquist and Ida (Swanson) Lundquist. Ardell grew up during the depression on the farm with her 8 living siblings. She had stated that they did not have much and all had daily chores, such as milking the cows and taking care of the horses. Ardell had said they never went hungry because her mom could make a good meal out of nothing. A skill which she passed onto Ardell.
Ardell met and married Wayne H. Kabrick and made their home in Spencer, Iowa. To this union they had four children, stillborn twins Sharon and Karen, and then the joy of her life Linda Kabrick and William Michael “Mick” Kabrick. While raising her children, Ardell was well known in the community for her cooking skills, as she catered parties and get togethers. After the passing of her husband Wayne, Ardell spent her later years 25 years in Greeley, Colorado living with her son Mick, Connie and Garrett. After Mick’s passing she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to live with her daughter Linda. Three years ago, after Linda’s passing Ardell returned to Ft. Collins, Colorado where she has resided with her new friends and family at Columbine Care Center West.
Ardell finally joins all her loved ones in heaven that were waiting for her, her husband Wayne, and children Sharon, Karen, Linda and Mick. As well as her parents and 9 siblings.
As a result of her zest for life, positive upbeat personality, she was loved by many, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Ardell leaves to cherish her memories in the lives of Connie Kabrick, Chris, and her grandson Garrett whom Ardell loved dearly. As well as her extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, residents and staff at Columbine Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday March 17, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Allnutt, Ft. Collins at 650 West Drake Road. Interment and service will be held at a later date in Spencer, Iowa where she will be laid to rest along with Mick, Linda, and her sister Evelynn in the family plots.
