Born in the far north-eastern corner of Colorado, in the small community of Julesburg, Arvilla enjoyed a rich childhood of family and friends, sharing the backyard playhouse and hanging upside down from the clothesline poles. She attended the Julesburg schools from elementary through high school and then went to Colorado Women’s College in Denver for a year.
During her freshman year of high school, she attended a town dance along with her mother, father and best friend. A young man approached the group and asked Arvilla’s friend to dance, which she politely declined. He then turned to Arvilla’s mother, Margaret, and asked if he could dance with Arvilla. That young man, Victor Meline, turned out to be the man she married and spent 71 years with. Arvilla and Vic were married on June 7,1953 and spent most of their married life in Fort Collins.
Arvilla and Vic were blessed with 4 daughters – Vicki, Karna, Pam, and Shawna. They had fun family times in the winter skiing or in the summer boating and fishing. She loved watching her family grow, with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, which brought so much joy to both she and Vic. She was so grateful for her family.
Arvilla had a heart for seeking God. She loved studying and learning about Him, especially with other ladies in many different Women’s Bible Studies. Arvilla was instrumental in introducing her family to Jesus. She was so thankful for the blessed life the Lord had given her. Throughout her last several months she reflected often on her many blessings from the Lord to help her through each day.
Arvilla and Vic loved to travel and experience the richness of the world. They purchased a motor home (commonly referred to as a “Road Barn” by one of the son-in-law’s) and joined a club of motorhome owners that traveled around the US and Mexico. They also enjoyed adventures through Alaska and Canada. One of the highlights of their travels included a trip to Israel and being baptized in the Jordan River!
Arvilla passed away at age 90 and is survived by her sister Patricia Linch, children, Vicki and Doug Lohrey, Karna and Casey Cropp, Pam and Tim Wilson, Shawna Phillips – grandchildren, Shanna and Luke Wright, Brian and Lyndsey Lohrey, Brandon Cropp, Kellen and Caitlyn Cropp, Ryan and Karlie Cropp, Jeremy Wilson, Molly Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Christopher and Dena Phillips – great grandchildren, Melanie, Gillian, Tobias, Malachi, Josiah, Karolina, Stetson and Oakley.
