Betty Elaine Browning

Betty Elaine Price Browning, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on April 30, 2008.She was born September 5, 1915 in Enid, OK. She graduated from high school there and received her B.A. Degree from Oklahoma A.M. College in Stillwater, OK. She was the ""Outstanding Woman Graduate"" of the class of 1936, elected to ""Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities"", a member of Mortar Board , Phi Kappa Phi, and Queen of the Engineers. She was a professor in the School of Commerce at her Alma Mater, and an Amy B. Onker award winner in the Pi Beta Phi sorority.She married Omar (Bud) Browning September 25, 1937 in the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, OK. He passed away September 11, l978. She was an Elder and a Stephen Minister in the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins, sang in church choirs for sixty years and loved bible study. Betty was the house mother for the Pi Beta Phi Sorority of Colorado State University and a lodge hostess at the Y.M.C.A. of the Rockies. She also worked for Poudre R-1 Food Service in 1975-77.Her hobbies were hiking, biking, water aerobics, Meals on Wheels, visiting in nursing homes, playing bridge and travel. Her travels included touring seven times in Europe, three times in Mexico, twice to Hawaii and Canada and to Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Alaska, Israel, Greece, Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand, Nova Scotia and Egypt. She attended twenty-six Elderhostel Programs including nine overseas. She was greatly blessed.She is survived by her four children, Kay Caldwell of Fort Collins, Tex Browning of Franklin, NC, Jill Eccleston of Bartlesville, OK and Gay Kepple of Huntsville, TX. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church. Private inurnment will be Resthaven Memory Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church Mission Fund or to Giddeons International in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S Hwy 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
