Bonnie Mae Schemm was born on May 30, 1944 in Valentine, Nebraska to Lloyd and Reta Micheel. Bonnie was 78 years old, and she went to be with Lord on December 19, 2022 after being cared for as an inpatient at Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins. Bonnie grew up in Nebraska and married Ed Schemm on February 28, 1961. Ed and Bonnie moved to Colorado and had four children, Sherri, Ronda, Dina and Mike. Bonnie worked as a dental assistant for many years. She then pursued her education and became a cosmetologist. She opened her own home beauty shop called Bonnie’s Puff and Fluff. When Bonnie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she stayed home to raise the children.
At age 54 Bonnie had a stroke that left her wheelchair bound and unable to talk, however this did not stop Bonnie from touching so many people’s lives. Bonnie was kindhearted and continued to help all those she encountered. When she was at Good Samaritan Nursing Home she delighted in shopping with the staff, having Ed take her and other residents to picnics, concerts, as well as many other activities. She was definitely one of the strongest women anyone could have known. She maintained her strong faith and put others before herself.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Reta Micheel, her brother Bernard Micheel, and her son-in-law Kirk Katzenmeyer. She is survived by her husband Ed Schemm of Windsor, children Sherri (Jay) Pena of Parker, Ronda Katzenmeyer of Windsor, Dina (David) Overholt of Berthod, and Mike Schemm of Pierce, grandchildren Jacki (Reed) Johnson of Loveland, Bradley (Amanda) Davidson of Buena Vista, Joshua Pena of Denver, Nicholas Pena of Denver and Ridge Overholt of Fort Collins.
