Chuck, age101, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Agnes, and their son Gordon. He is survived by his daughter, Renee, niece, grandchildren, and a great grandson.
Chuck was born on July 24,1923. He proudly grew up on the south side of Chicago. As a young boy he worked at his father’s butcher shop. His favorite hobby was building model airplanes and he aspired to fly.
As a teen, he delivered newspapers before and after school. In his spare time, he would flip boxcars to get around town and sneak into Cubs games.
Chuck enlisted and entered WWII in 1943. He served in the 30th Infantry of the 3rd Division of the United States Army. He fought in the Anzio Beach Landing one of the deadliest battles of the war. He was awarded The Purple Heart and Bronze Battle Star.
After the war, he returned to his job at Binks Manufacturing Company, where he was a dedicated machinist and was promoted to Maintenance Superintendent. He also worked in his own garage during the evening, as a mechanic and body restoration expert. After 45 years at Binks, he retired and moved with his wife, Agnes, to Ft. Collins, Colorado. He was eager to spend as much time as he could in his beloved mountains, where he enjoyed water and snow skiing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is best known for his innovative spirit and mid-western charm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. We will share information as soon as it becomes available.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Rocky Mountain Honor Flight in his memory.
