

Affectionately known to family and friends as "Claudy" or "Claude", he began this life in Farisita, Colorado on April 8, 1933. His parents were Romolo Santistevan and Anna Archuleta. Claudy was born into a large family and is preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers and sisters: Canuto Trujillo, Simon Trujillo, Crescencio Trujillo, Mary Trujillo, Vicki Trujillo, Tony Trujillo (Bertha), Andrea Santistevan, Gilbert Santistevan, Ruben Santistevan (Rose), Romolo Santistevan, and Rose Haviland.
Claudy was orphaned early on in his life and grew up living with several family members including his uncle Lou & aunt Rose Santistevan and their children; his brother Tony and family; cousins Joe & Della Santistevan and their children; cousin Freda Santistevan, her husband Alcadio and their children; cousin Clorinda Santistevan and her children; and his cousin Benjamin Santistevan, his wife Mary and their children. When he became old enough, he joined the military.
Claudy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his term of service, he took some classes in auto mechanics and worked in construction for most of his life. In 1955, Claudy married Margie Maes at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Collins, where they attended Mass every Sunday. Together they welcomed five children.
Claudy liked fishing and working on cars. Later in his life he enjoyed going out to eat and going to the casinos. He loved spending time with all of his family. Many memories were made during get togethers, with both his family in Colorado and out of state relatives.
Claudy was a hardworking man who took care of his family. He was kind and easy going. He was also quiet and patient, and always thought of others. At meal times, he always made sure that everyone else had food before he started eating. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Claudy leaves behind a great legacy and is survived by his children, Glenn Santistevan (Mary), Norma Jean Tamez (Rick), Mary Ellen Selman (Richie), Shirley Ann Ramirez (Dan), and Duane Santistevan (fiancé Cathy); grandchildren, Amy Patterson (Mark), Erica Santistevan (fiancé Mike), James Tamez, Melissa Tamez (Jason Aragon), Ricardo "RJ" Tamez (fiancé Taylor), Annie Tamez, Cameron Garcia (Jolene), Rochelle Vasquez (Mario), Adrian Trujillo (Jennifer), Anthony Trujillo, Andrew Trujillo, Brian Santistevan, Krystal Santistevan, Kayla Santistevan, Duane Santistevan Jr., and Justin Santistevan; great-grandchildren, Kayden Santistevan, Kylie Santistevan, Taeson Tamez, Joseph Tamez, Elan Tamez, Colton Aragon, Corbin Aragon, Trenton Garcia, Tanner Garcia, DeAngelo Gallegos, Aurora Gallegos, Jaden Trujillo, Tyler Trujillo, Julius Trujillo, Reyanna Trujillo, Drew Trujillo, and Bradleigh Boetger; and by one great-great-grandson, Bentley Trujillo.
He is also survived by his sister Lydia Quintana, sister-in-law Sophie Santistevan, and his “little brother” Harold Santistevan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
Services were held on Monday, March 25th, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens. Claudy's family greatly appreciates all those that were able to attend and honor his life together, those that sent flowers & cards, or otherwise shared their love. Graveside Services will be held privately.
