David is survived by his wife, Lynn Carothers Berryman; three daughters, Sherry (Jerry) Lincoln, Robbi Francisco, and Erin (Tom) Castellano; seven grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Jase, Maddi, Josiah, Riley and Chloe; two sisters, Shelby (Douglas) Vandiver, Donna (Frederick) Davis.
David was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Virgie Berryman; brothers Rubert Berryman, Gilbert Berryman, Charles Berryman; sisters, Chelsia Breeden, Nellie Dean Jeffreys; and son-in-law Antonio Francisco.
At a young age and while still in high school, David willingly assumed the responsibility to help support the family. Many days were spent picking cotton, driving a school bus, and then learning the barber trade. He followed in his father's footsteps and learned the carpentry trade, ultimately starting his own construction company. As a craftsman, he lived and worked in several states, settling in Colorado, his forever home. It was there he met and married his beautiful wife, Lynn Carothers. They moved to Breckenridge where he would build several condo units. During this time, Sherry and Robbi were born. They later purchased a home and settled in Northglenn. Shortly afterwards, Erin arrived and completed their family.
During his career as a general contractor, David built many commercial buildings including restaurants, banks, hotels and condos, as well as numerous residential homes. In addition to building, David and Lynn opened and operated a Mexican restaurant, Don Jose’s, for many years. Some of the delicious recipes created are still being enjoyed today. David worked tirelessly for his family but loved making time to take them on vacation. Some of his favorite vacation spots include Gulf Shores, Alabama, his hometown in Northern Alabama, his wife's hometown of Springer, New Mexico, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Disney World and Panama Canal on the Disney Cruise. Both David and Lynn were very involved in their daughters' school years and took numerous trips with the Northglenn Band as Chaperones. During his later years, he loved watching each of his grandchildren in their various sports and extra-curricular activities. David was tenaciously devoted to his family. Gathering all of his family together was his favorite past-time.
David possessed extensive knowledge in all things related to building and repairing. This knowledge was passed on to his daughters and grandchildren. Many hours of remodeling, building houses, fixing cars were spent with them. David loved music, especially the southern gospel quartets and classic country. He could play the fiddle, guitar, bass guitar, and piano.
David had a full life: from a beginning of meager means to a treasured living legacy - rich in everything money cannot buy.
