

Estella Earlene Spencer, 86, of Fort Collins died March 12, 2011 at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab Center. She was born on June 25, 1924 to Dr. Loren Earl and Minnie Estella (Hurst) Wallace in Burlington Junction, MO. She was very proud to have been a hometown beauty queen. She was a high school cheerleader and a valedictorian. She had many careers: bookkeeper, housing and hotel manager, tax specialist and receptionist to name a few. She worked for the City of Fort Collins as a receptionist/secretary for 7 years and the Fort Collins Housing Authority as a bookkeeper for a few years. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She raised her granddaughters as her own and provided them with a stable home environment. Many weekends were spent playing cards and board games with her grandchildren. She loved to get in the car and go for rides. She was a dedicated sports fan and she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play their sports. She loved watching and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Nicolas Gaucher. She is survived by her sons, John Maxwell (Diane) and Tom Spencer; grandchildren, Tammy (Paul) Gaucher, Tommy Spencer, Tara Spencer (Dan), Midori Maxwell, and Tyson Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Whitney Gaucher, Ashlie Spencer, Dani Calderon, Derek Spencer, Taylor Spencer, and a great-great-grandchild, Tyler.Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.
