Born on June 6, 1934, in Aurora, Colorado, Ed was one of three children of Richard and Mildred Stoner, growing up alongside his brother Richard Jr. and sister Terri.
In 1955 he married his high school sweetheart Judith J. French and together they raised four children, Ed Jr., Christy, Cathy and Lisa. Ed took immense pride in his family that grew to include 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
After 34 years of marriage, Ed lost Judy to illness in 1989. He later married Sara Kelly, with whom he shared the remainder of his life.
Ed dedicated 30 years of his career to the Caterpillar Tractor Company. Outside of work, he enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and passions. He was an avid golfer, a master of jigsaw puzzles, and a devoted Denver Broncos fan. He loved sports of all kinds and was equally enthusiastic about traveling—exploring many U.S. states and destinations abroad.
Throughout his life, Ed explored many faith traditions and ultimately found deep conviction in the Baháʼí Faith.
Ed lived a long and fulfilling life, surrounded by family and friends. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service was held for Ed on Thursday, September 11th, 2025 at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was placed to rest in accordance with his Bahá'í faith practices.
In lieu of flowers the family request a contribution made to Habitat for Humanity in memory of Ed. Memories of Ed and words of condolence for his family are welcome at resthavencolorado.com.
