

Ella was a kind, compassionate friend and a loving, exceptional mother and grandmother. She is and will be dearly missed. In her youth, she lived on a farm with her parents and four brothers where she attended 8 years of country school in a one-room school house. She went to 3 years of high school in Oldham, S.D., and graduated from De Smet High School in 1943. In 1944 she married Russell Schultz and after two years of farming, they moved into De Smet where they were involved in a bowling alley and a truck stop/restaurant business. Ella was confirmed at American Lutheran Church in 1947 and was active in Sunday school and church circle meetings. She was also a den mother for cub scouts. Three children were born while living in De Smet and the family lived there until 1964 when they moved to the Denver area. Ella worked for a wholesale liquor company for 2 years before working for Boise Cascade Corporation for 18 years as a purchasing secretary. She retired in 1983. She and Russ built a country home northeast of Broomfield, CO, and lived there until Russ' death in 1994. She then moved into a new home with her daughter Karen in Longmont, Colorado. In her last years she resided in a condo apartment, then to Good Samaritan Resort apartment and later to Columbine Assisted Living in Windsor, CO, and recently to Good Samaritan Assisted Living in Fort Collins, CO. She transferred membership from St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Northglenn, CO, to First Lutheran Church in Longmont.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers (Richard, Clyde, and Arlie), her husband Russ of 50 years, and two grandsons. Left with fond memories are son Rodney and wife Marsha of Custer, SD, daughter Karen of Windsor, CO, son Raymond and wife Doreen of Broomfield, CO, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one brother Glen Nordland of Madison, SD, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and a dear friend Marcia Mathews of Longmont, CO.
Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 19 at Good Samaritan Society-Fort Collins Village, 508 W Trilby Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
Donations are requested for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as well as any cards to the family, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 West Drake Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80526.
