

Emilio was born in Fort Collins on January 5, 1933, to Jesus and Maria (Martinez) Guerrero. In his younger years, he traveled often with his family as a field worker. He held many other jobs, such as working for the Dreher Pickle Plant, Hewlett-Packard, First United Methodist Church, Saint John XXIII Catholic Church, and more.
Proudly serving his country, Emilio was honorably discharged from the National Guard of Colorado-Army Reserve in 1954 & the United States Army in 1962. He later married the love of his life, Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” (Sedillo) Guerrero. He was known for his love of his country and was loved by many friends, neighbors, and family.
Emilio is survived by his three daughters, Bernadine Nielsen (Chris), Elizabeth "Liz" Walters (Kieth), and Josie Blackwill (Mike); brothers Lupe Guerrero (Toni), and Pete Guerrero (Jackie); sisters Beatrice Sanchez (Ben), Isabelle Martinez (Dave), Virginia Serrano (Roy), and Ramona Martin (Joseph "Poncho" Sr.); sister-in-law Nanette Guerrero; nine grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Guerrero; brothers Manuel Tavarez Sr., Davey Guerrero, Benny "Little Wes" Guerrero, and Jesse Joe "Big Wes" Guerrero; and by his parents Jesus & Maria Guerrero.
A Celebration of Emilio's Life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:00am at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins. Graveside services will follow and Military Honors will be rendered in recognition of Emilio's service to his country.
