

Fay P. LaBonde died peacefully at 93 years old, on February 14, 2022 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was born Stella Fay Adams to Dixie (Dabbs) in her grandmother’s home near Mesilla, NM on October 7, 1928.
Dixie married Fred Paddock who then adopted Fay. The family moved to Montrose, CO in the 1940’s where she completed her education.
Fay was married in 1946 and gave birth to her daughter, Janie. They lived in Aspen where she worked at the hospital.
She married Jack LaBonde in a surprise wedding on December 31, 1964 at her parent’s home in Montrose. They settled in Greeley, CO along with Jack’s three children, Jack Jr, Jerry and Jill. They adopted two sons, Brian and Brad. Fay and Jack were married 57 years.
She supported wrestling and wrestlers at UNC where Jack coached. She was also the Spur sponsor at UNC.
Fay sold Avon, and worked at the Denver Dry. She opened Estee Lauder departments at Joslin’s in several cities along the Front Range.
In 1985, Fay and Jack retired for the first time and moved to Libby, MT, where she continued to enjoy hosting family visits, rock collecting, gardening, berry picking, fishing and camping. She enjoyed creating stained glass pieces for friends and family. She also began scrapbooking and researching the family’s genealogy.
They lived for a time in Arizona and then returned to Cedaredge, CO. Their final move was to Fort Collins, Co to be near family.
Fay was a lover of animals of all kinds.
She traveled with Jack and friends to Branson, Oregon, Alaska, Mexico, Germany and Italy.
Fay was confirmed in the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Sr., siblings, Janie Lee, Pat and Bill, sisters-in-law Genevive LaBonde, children and their spouses, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held at Allnutt Funeral Home-Drake Chapel, 650 W Drake Rd, Fort Collins, CO on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11am.
