Gerald Edward Gallegos passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, and spent most of his life serving his community as a dedicated business owner, proud husband and father.
Gerald is now reunited with his beloved wife, Donnavae, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage; his brother Arthur; and his parents, Edward and Tina, all of whom preceded him in death.
Gerald is survived by his brother Rudy (Sunnie) and his loving children: his daughter, Nicole Colbert (Nate), and his three sons, Jeremy (Brooke), Jason (Susanne), and Michael (Monica). He is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren: Tessa, Zendon, Ben, Claudia, Ephraim, Jamison, and Elijah.
For seven years, Gerald courageously battled Alzheimer’s disease, facing each day with quiet strength and dignity. Despite the challenges, his kindness and gentle spirit never faded.
A dedicated entrepreneur, Gerald took great pride in his work. Through Gallegos Sanitation, he and his siblings built not just a business, but a legacy rooted in integrity, compassion, and respect. Gerald treated every employee like family, always leading with generosity and understanding.
Above all else, Gerald was a devoted husband, father, and a man of strong faith in Jehovah. Family brought him tremendous joy, and he consistently put their needs before his own, making countless sacrifices to ensure their happiness and well-being. He was known for his kind heart and unwavering generosity.
It is often said that a parent is only a chapter in a child’s life, but children are the largest part of a parent’s story. Gerald’s life was a testament to that truth. In his final years, his children and grandchildren were blessed to care for him, creating cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and gratitude.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Theresa Scott, who served as Gerald and Donnavae’s full-time caregiver. Her dedication and love did not go unnoticed, and she will always hold a special place in their hearts.
Gerald’s legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will live on through all who knew him. He is deeply missed and forever remembered.
