Joanne Mae Dahmer

Joanne M. Dahmer, 84, passed away on January 3, 2025, in Loveland, CO. Joanne was born in Hastings, MN on November 29, 1940, to Herman and Hazel Hischer. She was raised on a farm in Pine City, MN graduating from Pine City High School in 1958 and married Owen Dahmer June 18, 1966. She attended and graduated from Comptometer School in Minneapolis, after graduation, she worked in Minneapolis for both John Morrell & Company Cargill. In 1964, Joanne moved to Denver, CO and worked at Chevron Oil from 1964 to 1973. She was a licensed daycare provider for infants from 1993 to 1997. Joanne joined the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1998 and worked for PLCO, a cancer screening trial until her retirement in 2006.

Joanne and Owen moved to Aurora, CO and raised their two children, Andrew and Jill. Over the course of her life, she was active and faithfully served roles in Lutheran church organizations, Sunday school teacher, altar guide, choir, Stephen Ministry member, officer of LWML, and Joy Circle.

Joanne enjoyed baking, reading, camping, hiking, skiing, and sightseeing in the Colorado Mountains, and trips to Minnesota to visit family, or Canasta card games with friends.

Survived by her husband Owen, their two children and two grandchildren, son Andrew (Heather) Dahmer, Dakota and MacKenzie of Windsor, CO, and daughter Jill Wilson of Denver, CO, brother John (Joan) Hischer of Harris, MN and brother-in-law Byron Dahmer of Imperial Beach, CA, niece Jacquelyn (Glenn) Gasmen, nephew’s Eric Vetse, Kurt (AnnaMarie) Vetse, Ross Vetse, and Jason (Tamara) Hischer, and many grand-niece’s and grand-nephew’s.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Hazel Hischer, baby sister, sister, and brother-in-law Joyce and Mel Vetse, sister Janice Hischer, her father and mother-in-law Peter J. and Laura K. Dahmer.

A Memorial Service will take place on January 18, 2025 at 11:00 am at Peace with Christ Lutheran Church, 1412 W. Swallow Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80526. The Dahmer family invites you to join them for a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Interment in Denver, CO will follow at a later date.
