John J Velasquez

John J Velasquez, 81, of Loveland was reunited with his beloved wife on August 28, 2008. John was born on March 2, 1927 in Albert, New Mexico to Francisco and Genoveva Padilla Velasquez. John grew up tending sheep and working on the ranch in New Mexico. He married Pauline Quintana on May 7, 1949 in Mosquero, New Mexico. He has lived in Loveland since 1985. John was employed with Great Western Sugar Company. Later retiring from Eastman â?? Kodak Company in Windsor at the age of 55. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. He had a very generous nature and helped so many people in any way he could. John loved tinkering on his farm and working in his shop. His life was his Wife, Family, Friends and his Farm.John is survived by many friends and family including his son, John Velasquez, Jr. and friend J.J. of Ft. Collins; daughters, Mary Poffenroth and husband David of Longmont, Gloria Velasquez of Conifer, Darlene Bandy and husband Carlton of Highlands Ranch, and Esther Mast and husband John of Loveland; sister Mary Delarosa of Greeley; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, his parents, brothers Alfonso, Pacomio and Nasario; sisters Lucia and Emilia.A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church. There will be a reception following the service at the church. Please bring a covered dish to share with family and friends to remember John.
