Julia Ann Shaffer

Julia Ann Shaffer, age 83, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed peacefully on June 4, 2011. Julia was born April 15, 1928 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin to Alfred and Elizabeth Freitag. Julia married Gordon E. Shaffer on May 19, 1947 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. They lived in Farmington, New Mexico until 1954 when they moved to a small acreage in Woodstock, Illinois. They moved to Laporte, Colorado in 1966 and Julia had recently been living in Fort Collins, Colorado. Julia worked for many years as an executive secretary, deputy clerk and recorder and most recently as a CNA in a local retirement home. She retired 8 years ago at age 75. Julia was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her son, Micheal D. Shaffer; her granddaughter, Sabrina Partyka; her brothers, Russell and Harlow Freitag; and her sister, Annette Tomcyck. Julia is survived by her three children Gordon E. Shaffer Jr. (Debbie) of Sharon, WI, Gayle A. Schink (Steven) of Loveland, CO and Carol A. Shaffer (Golden R. Rowland) of Laporte, CO; her eight grandchildren, Danny, Joey and Becky Shaffer, Daniel Partyka, Jeff Shaffer, Jennifer Deaton, Gregg DeGroot, and Jodi Hager; fourteen great-grandchildren, Rachel Shaffer, Tyler DeGroot, Kori Deaton, Kayla Deaton, Jaydin Hager, Kody McDonald, Daniel Shaffer, Samantha Shaffer, Tyler Partyka, Dustin Partyka, Emily Partyka, Ivan Partyka, Dylan Shaffer and Kylie Shaffer; her brother, Frank Freitag (Karen) of Oconomowoc, WI; and sisters, Marion Hoppe (William) of Scottsdale, AZ and Evora Krebs of Crystal Beach, FL. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the East Auditorium of Timberline Church, Fort Collins, Colorado.
