Ken earned his Master’s degree in counseling from California State University, Fullerton. He dedicated his professional life to helping others, working as a social worker for Child Protective Services.
On September 18, 1993, Ken married Catherine Ann McFarlane in Diamond Bar, California. In 2011, the family relocated to Northern Colorado. Ken was a consistently present and involved father to his children, Shannon and Travis. He faithfully read bedtime stories to his children and actively supported them by attending their sports, church events, and other activities.
Those who knew Ken will remember him as a kind, gentle, thoughtful, loyal, and quiet man. He also possessed a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed getting a reaction with occasional pranks. He was incredibly observant, silently taking note of his loved ones' interests, which always showed up in his meaningful and thoughtful gift-giving.
As an avid reader Ken enjoyed the works of Lee Strobel, Joel Rosenberg, Max Lucado, C.S. Lewis and so many more. A nature enthusiast, Ken loved hiking and spending time outdoors. His favorite animal was the bighorn sheep, and he especially loved visiting Estes Park in the fall to see the elk rut and hear them bugle. He had a deep appreciation for music, enjoying gospel and country music. As a younger man, his love for music and faith led him to join the Continental Singers, with whom he went on a summer tour of the South Pacific, including Samoa.
Ken’s faith was a central pillar of his life. He was a devoted member of Timberline Church and actively participated in both the Allies Men’s Ministry at Timberline Church and the Calvary Chapel Men’s Prayer Group. He also served as Timberline’s Pastor On-Call from 2023-2024 and, along with his family, volunteered with Serve 6.8 helping families in need with flood and wildfire sandbagging and property clean-up, and mucking out stalls at the Budweiser Ranch for horses displaced due to wildfire.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Catherine, and his children Shannon and Travis. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, steady devotion, and gentle humor.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me - the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return.” - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
