Carr, Colorado - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laurence Alan Eichel, of Carr, Colorado, who passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2025, at the age of 80.
He was born on September 5th, 1944 in Los Angeles, California to Robert Tuohy and Josephine Eichel. Raised by Margaret “Moppie” Eichel (nee. Fisher) and Clarence Eichel, he attended both Rutgers University and the University of Kansas and went on to a 26-year career in the Navy, followed by many more as an Engineer in the Defense Industry.
He enjoyed amatuer radio, photography, calligraphy, and exploring the mountains while hiking or camping. As “K2NA,” he was an active member of the Amateur Radio Relay League for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his children, Eric Eichel and Wendy Bloom; grandchildren, Shannah, Eryn, Bobby, and Madeleine; longtime friend, Mary Jane Stevens; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Ann Blackwell; and brother, Dennis Eichel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
