Margaret LaRae Powell

Margaret LaRae Powell was born in Utah on June 27th 1946, although she didn’t go by the name Margaret. She went by LaRae. LaRae passed away on November 11th, 2021 at the age of 75. She lived in Bountiful, Utah, but her real home was Fort Collins, Co. She was married to Derald Joseph Powell Jr.

LaRae’s parents were John Henry Ivey and Virginia Stewart Ivey. LaRae married Derald on September 4, 1962 in the Oakland Temple. LaRae stayed home to raise her children. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of which she was very active. She was a professional seamstress and made the most amazing clothes. She also enjoyed needle point, crocheting, scrapbooking and any other form of crafts.

She is survived by her children: Kristina LaRae Schroeder, Karen Marie Letteer, Eric Derald Powell, and Kathleen Marie Powell. Her grandchildren: Emily LaRae Cope and Dalton James Cope, Brianna Noelle Telford and John Deliano Dominique Telford, Meghan Amberly Jackson and Tyler Brandon Jackson, Cody Richard Schroeder, Jordan Derald Schroeder. Garrett Orion Letteer, and Henry John Powell. Her great grandchildren: Zoey Telford, Kaylee Annmarie Sweat, Dax Urbin Cope, and Isabella Snow Jackson.

LaRae has been a survivor. She has conquered breast cancer 7 times, defeated Guillain-Barre, survived Stem Cell Replacement Therapy and removal of a brain tumor. Through it all, she remained positive and not afraid of whatever came next.

LaRae loved her husband very much. They would go on trips to visit family every year. They also spent a lot of time traveling to see the amazing beauty of our world.

LaRae loved her children and grandchildren. She would crochet beautiful blessing blankets for them. LaRae was an angel and brought light wherever she went. She is now back with Derald and I’m sure they are having a wonderful reunion.
