Margaret “Margie” Schneider, 96, of Fort Collins passed away Monday May 11, 2026. Born in Eaton, she was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Rusch, who emigrated from Russia in 1906. Margie was welcomed by 4 brothers and 9 sisters. Margie grew up in the Eaton and Greeley area. She attended the Hazelton and Eaton schools. Margie married Raymond Fabrizius on January 15, 1950. They farmed in the Ault area for 12 years until Ray’s death on January 27, 1961. Margie and Ray had two children, Kathy and Randy. In 1961, Margie moved to Fort Collins and worked in the cafeteria at CSU. In 1962, she married Eugene Schneider. They moved to a farm east of Fort Collins where they planted corn, hay and pinto beans. Margie actively helped with the farming and irrigation; she would rather be outdoors than inside. Margie and her husband also fed cattle for many years. Gene and Margie’s daughter Connie was born in 1963. On March 8th, 2008, Margie’s husband Gene passed away.
Farming has always been a part of Margie’s life and she continued to live on the farm for 63 years. Margie belonged to Observatory Club and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard, working with animals, driving tractors and irrigating. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching the Broncos, Rockies and Nuggets as well as sitting outside on the patio with her “kitty”.
Surviving are her children, Kathy Fabrizius, Randy Fabrizius, and Connie Micolichek (Pat).
A memorial service for Margie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19th, 2026 at Allnutt Drake Chapel with a reception and interment to follow.
