Maria Barraza Luna

Maria Barraza Luna, age 86, of Fort Collins, Colorado went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2021. Maria was born April 28, 1934 in Crystal City, Texas to Natalia and Ebberisto Barraza. She was a migrant worker and loved to work in the hospitality industry in many local businesses. She moved to Fort Collins from Phoenix, Arizona in 1974 and has enjoyed living here since then. Maria was raised by her grandparents after losing her mother at a young age. Her grandfather taught her how to read and write.

Maria's family will always remember her cooking and how much she loved her culture. She loved to listen to Ramon Ayala. Her laugh will dearly be missed along with her unconditional love and forgiveness. She was a strong woman and dedicated mother and grandmother. Maria loved to make everyone around her laugh with her playful demeanor. Some would like to call her attitude sassy at times. She always looked forward to family get togethers where you were always greeted with a smile, a kiss, and a hug. All she wanted was for her children and loved ones to be happy in life. She worked hard to give them what they needed. Maria taught her family important qualities to have in life such as good work ethic, love, forgiveness, and the power of faith and prayer. Maria loved watching "Blue Bloods" in her spare time. She was also a member of Grace Fellowship in Fort Collins.

Her family will miss her with all their hearts, but they take peace in knowing they were blessed to have had a loving and courageous woman in their lives. We thank God for her.

Maria is survived by son Alfredo Luna; son Robert Luna; son David Luna; daughter Gloria Luna; daughter Mary Luna; daughter Sally Luna; and daughter Oralia Luna; sister Nachita Avalos; 18 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by son Artemio Luna and son Joe Luna; father Ebberisto Barraza and mother Natalia Barraza; and granddaughter Marcela Luna DiBenedetto, whom she raised as her own.

A funeral service for Maria will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Allnutt Drake Road Chapel, 650 West Drake Road, Fort Collins CO 80526.
