

It is with deep sorrow that we say farewell to Maura Therese (Bliven) Green. Maura died unexpectedly on 10/17/2023. Born in June of 1950, Maura grew up in Ridgewood, N.J. She stayed in touch and still vacationed with her group of lifelong friends from Ridgewood H.S.
After H.S., Maura attended Boston University. She went to work at the Animal Medical Center in NYC and moved to Colorado at the opening of CSU Veterinary Hospital as a Veterinary Nurse and continued to work at CSU for 40 years. She received an Award for their Blood Donor Program and was published numerous times in Veterinary journals.
From an early age Maura’s artistic ability and love of horses guided her pursuits through her whole life. She loved painting and photography. (She passed away in her painting room surrounded by her artwork.)
In Colorado Maura earned her Black Belt in Kempo Karate where she met and married her husband Jim Green in 1991. Maura competed in Kempo Karate tournaments regionally where at one point she was ranked top Female in the Western Kempo Conference.
After she and Jim moved to Waverly, CO she was able to acquire her beloved horses and started competing in Dressage with her horses.
Maura loved the ocean, her horses, numerous dogs and cats, and being outdoors. She enjoyed swimming in her pool, watching the birds, and hiking at Horsetooth Reservoir .
Last year Maura survived a catastrophic car accident, after 11 surgeries on her upper and lower leg including numerous setbacks she had just been told she might regain full mobility when she passed suddenly.
Maura leaves behind her husband Jim Green, sisters Bernadine Revie, Rosanne Bliven, Marion Bliven, stepsons Jim and Bob Green, her beloved niece and nephews Gillian Kastner, Chris and John Curzon, and Pete, David, and Andrew Revie. She was preceded in death by her sister Sheila Curzon and her mother Adeline Bliven.
A celebration of Maura’s life will be held on November 2nd at 2:00pm at Allnutt Chapel on Drake Rd. Fort Collins, CO.
