Mika Jay Wenham, 18, of Colorado Springs, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Born in Denver to Amy Leanne and Christopher-Ray Wenham, Mika graduated from Discovery Canyon (DCC) High School in 2024 with honors. After high school, Mika attended Colorado State University, was studying to be a Child Psychiatrist, and received straight A’s.
Mika was a spiritual, compassionate, and creative individual who loved animals, hiking, going on drives in the country, swimming, and art. Mika was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others who struggled with mental health and those that were not easily understood. A very talented artist, Mika enjoyed creating expressive furry characters in drawings, pictures, badges, and even wearable costume heads. Mika also enjoyed Furry Gatherings, where young artists can wear costumes to show off their artwork while hanging out in parks to talk and be free of judgement.
Mika is survived by his wonderfully accepting and loving brother, Tyler Richard; his amazingly supportive and championing Mother Amy; his always present and proud father Chris; his beloved ESA (Emotional - but I would say Essential - Support Animal) cat Koda, and our other four-legged family members: dogs Connor and Sweetsie, and new terrors of the manor, kittens Phoebe and Monica.
A celebration of life service for Mika will be held 1:00pm. Friday, November 8th , 2024, at The Secret Window Event Center in Monument Colorado (47 3rd St, Monument, CO 80132) and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Black Forest Animal Society, http://bestfriends.org , Colorado Springs, Co. 80908.
