Nancy was born in Laramie, WY on December 30, 1938 to parents Casey and Lula Mae (Lambert) Kuhn. Casey's parents were farmers, and Casey worked for the railroad in Laramie. Lula Mae's parents were from Central City, NE, where she was raised. Nancy grew up in a small house with her younger sister, Judy. She graduated from Laramie High in 1956, and after graduating, she went to college at Phillips University in Enid, OK, before returning home to Laramie.
Nancy married Harold Wood on April 26, 1959, and together, they were the parents of three children: Dennis (JoAnn), born 1960; David (Shellie), born 1961; and Brenda (Gregory Myers), joining in 1963. When the kids were young, the family moved to Colorado, where they purchased a home on 12 acres. Here, Nancy found a passion in gardening, yardwork, and raising all kinds of animals. She also spent her time playing the piano and type of accordion known as the 'lap organ.' As a stay at home mom to three children Nancy never missed an activity. She attended school plays, sporting events, and 4H activities K-12, and even into college, to support her children.
Once her children were 'grown and gone,' Nancy discovered her adventurous side. She loved to travel, cross-country ski, play cards, attend dinner theatres, and bowled competitively. She got a job as librarian, which she excelled in, as she truly enjoyed helping people.
Nancy reconnected with and married Edward 'Ed' Crawford on April 2nd, 1989, and together, they have never missed an event that came along with being grandparents. They would travel near and far to watch the grandkids- birthdays, school programs, and all the sporting events: cross country, football, soccer, basketball, baseball- again, throughout high school and into college.
She was "Grandma Nancy" to all the grandchildren, which grew to also include 15 great grandchildren.
The family invites the community to gather for a Memorial Service to remember Nancy at the Drake Chapel, 650 W Drake Rd in Fort Collins, on Wednesday, August 13, starting at 10:30. A catered reception will follow.
