

Nancy Lue Sorkness was born on November 27, 1929 in Jamestown, N.D. to Sidney and Luella Sorkness. She was welcomed into the family by her parents and older sister, Millicent. Nancy graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1947. Then received a degree in Occupational Therapy from Milwaukee Downer College. She married Victor Earl Henning on March 20, 1951. They were married for 54 years until Vic’s death in 2005.
Nancy served in a variety of ways supporting philanthropic and church endeavors in Fargo, ND and Fort Collins. Those organizations included Junior League, Kappa Kappa Gamma, the F-M Heritage Society, F-M Acro Team, PEO, the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. She served as the campaign chairperson for Mort Mazaheri in his bid for mayor of Fargo, and also worked as an election judge. She enjoyed volunteering for the Avenir Museum in Ft. Collins.
Nancy was an excellent chef and catered a myriad of events. Needlework and Quilter’s Club brought joy to her life. She thoroughly enjoyed classical music and reading, and participated in her Reader’s Club until her death.
Nancy is survived by her 6 children: Leslie (Nick Striegel), Melissa (Dimitri Velis), Eric (Lynnette), Christian, Martin and Stephanie, 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Allnutt Drake Chapel - Ft. Collins on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 3:00 pm. (MST)
