Patricia (Patty) Lynn Jeffries born on April 12, 1955, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2024 at the age of 69, in Loveland, Colorado. Patty was the fifth of eight children of Bill and Ruth Jeffries. Patty was a woman who possessed an incredible array of diverse talents.
As a child, she was especially recognized for her great skills as an artist and athlete. As an artist her expertise ranged from that of an impressionist landscape painter to eventually a very accomplished stained glass artisan. Members of her family will forever cherish the glass work she gifted them.
Patty’s exceptional athletic skill was manifest in many ways. In her younger years she participated in all typical elementary and high school sports (St. James/Machebeuf), heading up winning teams, year after year. At one point, following her graduation from Colorado Women’s College (attended on an athletic scholarship), Patty was coaching women’s volleyball, softball, basketball, and tennis at various academic levels. As a coach, she demonstrated that she could easily be an advocate for, and friend of people of any age and background. A natural gift. She excelled at tennis; it was her favorite sport. The trophies and ribbons filled up a case. One year she was ranked the number one Colorado amateur tennis player in her age bracket. And, not surprisingly, she was an ardent fan of Colorado professional sports of all kinds. If you wanted to know what the Broncos performance history was, or how the team and coaching rosters came to be, ask Patty.
The Jeffries family and its extensions benefit greatly from an extensive multiyear project that Patty undertook to research and document the family’s genealogy. She utilized every available resource including libraries, courthouses, and cemeteries. The effort resulted in a comprehensive illustrated book and posters; the presentation and detail are extraordinary.
And she could handle a house, possessing the craftsmanship needed to independently maintain it. Her home was always a showcase of beautiful landscaping and decor. And as part of home-life at Patty’s, typically two dogs benefited from her love and care.
Patty also possessed an exceptional level of perseverance. While working for the Rocky Mountain News, Patty was showing up at 3:00 AM, taking the wheel of large box truck and delivering bundles for further distribution around Denver. In her spare time, she pursued and completed a MS degree in Environmental Health from CSU. She went on to work for OSHA, a position that had her driving all over Colorado, an activity that she absolutely loved.
Whether going out on the town or to a sporting event, she was the life of the party, finding humor in everything. “Is Patty coming?” was the lead question when planning an outing in Colorado.
Patty leaves behind a family who cherish the memories of a sister who brought so much joy and fun into their lives.
Patty is immediately survived by her seven siblings, Steve, Mark, Christine, Dan, Brian (Jan), Robert, and Tony (Carrie); as well as nieces Kenney (Brenda), Nancy (Rodney), Marie, and Ellie; nephews Tom (Katie), Phillip, Eric and Will, and grand-nephews, Issac and Dane.
