Robert “Matt” Nelson, 44, owner of Fatso’s Diner in Loveland, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was a friend to many and loved by everyone he surrounded himself with. Matt was adventurous. He was fearless with a relentless drive to succeed in all aspects of life. He was competitive, however compassionate.
He owned three Classic Coney Cafes’ in Michigan before he, Julie (Johnson), and their girls continued a new adventure in Colorado seven years ago. Matt was a wonderful father to his two daughters, Brooke Nelson (8) and Bella Clark (16). They always looked forward to the days when he would say, “C,mon kids, let’s go find the fun!” For Julie he was not only a partner in life, but her very best friend. Matt will be remembered for his ridiculous sense of humor and his unwavering reliability to be a pillar of strength. Along with Julie and the girls, Matt is survived by his mother, Sandra Nelson; a sister, Buffy Nelson; nephew Donavin Arnold; niece Miranda Arnold; and his grandfather, Robert Nelson.
