Celebration of Life for Roberta J. (Bobbie) Moyer will be held:
Saturday, July 15th 2017 @ 12:00 at Resthaven Memory Gardens located between Loveland & Fort Collins, Colorado. There will be no viewing…Cancer is a vicious killer & we want you to remember her for her Long-Curled Hair and the Bubbly Personality she had. Cremation will take place Wednesday July 12, 2017.
Roberta J. Moyer (Batt), 62 of Loveland Colorado lost her battle with an aggressive form of Colon Cancer on Saturday July 8th, 2017 surrounded by family.
Bobbie was born July 15th 1954 to Patricia J. Batt (Eller) & Robert J. Batt in Britt, Iowa. Mom grew up with a Military lifestyle that she loved, and she was quick to make special bonds over the years even though they moved every 17 months or so. Her favorite place was Germany and her favorite pastime was learning about and collecting anything King Arthur related…Many would consider her to be her own Arthurian Expert.
Man, this is hard…There are so many special things about her. On July 28th 1974 she married my father, Bruce Lee Moyer. Now, she was a military wife and loved the new experiences they shared together as they moved station to station. On July 19th 1976, I entered the world at Irwin Army Hospital while they were stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. My mom made me laugh every time she’d tell me the story of how dad went running down the hall yelling “Nurse, Nurse, Nurse”…she vividly remembers hearing his voice trail off as he rounded corners in search of help. Sadly, things came between them and they were divorced July 31, 1981. My mom and I moved to Loveland from Fort Carson with the help of my grandparents. (Patricia & Robert)
With the help of my grandparents, my mom raised me the best she could. We became more like sisters than Mother & Daughter which made our relationship even stronger. And no matter what was going on, she was always there. She is my Rock…and even though we had our ups and downs…we became even closer. She loved the times she got to spend with both her grandchildren…rare as it was at times.
27 years ago, Bobbie joined the Wal-Mart Family as an associate at the Loveland Distribution Center (#6019) where she worked in the Computer Room. A few years back she transferred from the Computer Room up to Dispatch and hated every minute of it, she then transferred to the Wal-Mart Store with the “Groceries to Go” department on Denver Avenue in Loveland. She missed her 27 year Wal-Mart Anniversary by 1 day. Saturday March 4th, 2017 was the first day my momma called in sick… and the last day she was truly herself. She even had an accident while on the clock that resulted in a black eye from hitting her head on the concrete floor back in April of 2016 and she didn’t even miss work for that. Had mom been able to continue walking with all the swelling she had, I believe she would have worked till the day she died. Mom loved working for Wal-Mart.
For years Roberta was actively dedicated to the Friends of the Loveland Public Library and she even roped us into volunteering with her for the book sales. Then all of a sudden one day they did me a Large Service and returned my mother to the family that truly loved her…From the Bottom of my Heart…Thank You! We had some time to get to know each other again…and she was there for us last summer as our world starting falling apart due to my second & final divorce.
She was always there for us no matter what…Our Wonder Woman.
After mom was diagnosed with Cancer and sent home from the hospital the first time, she required almost 24hr care as she could not stand up on her own anymore let alone drive, so she lived here with us so I could get her to her various appointments. As the Cancer progressed I became her 24hr caregiver, like I said it was rough. Patrick helped me where he could, as hard as it was for him to be in that position, he did his best. Our pups Buster & Abby became very close and protective of mom…I have never seen anything like it before. They took turns lying by her bed, guarding her at night and during the day when the various home health people came in they became more vocal. They were so alert with her and showed concern when the Firefighters & Paramedics came to help…when I could no longer pick her up from one of her falls. And they both fell in love with all the ladies from Pathways Hospice...They miss their grandma dearly…Especially Abby, since mom’s hospital bed was still here that night she slept on it and continues to sleep as close to where grandma was as possible.
My mother was an only child and was preceded in death by both of her parents, numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. The day I called Iowa to let them know of moms passing, we learned that her Uncle Earl Eller of Orem, Utah had also passed away and was laid to rest just days before. I think I’m still in shock from hearing that…He was one hell of a good man and will be greatly missed. However, due to the timing, we like to think that it’s his way of guiding his niece home safely…Her “Guiding light” if you will. Almost every night since mom passed, there have been some amazing lightning storms…She made it home…She’s happy again.
Roberta is survived by her:
Aunt Betty Rochleau of Algona, Iowa; Aunt Elise & Husband Clarence Casey of LuVerne, Iowa; Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that mom lost touch with
Daughter – Maria Odeal Moyer of Fort Collins, Colorado; Grandsons – Clayton Arthur Mayea (25) & Patrick William O’Brien (16) – Both of Fort Collins, Colorado;
Her Ex-Husband, My Father – Bruce Lee Moyer of Lakeland, Florida and his family
We will have our pups Buster & Abby with us at Mom’s Service…Please understand that they lost their grandmother as well. I ask that you use caution when approaching them, they are not used to many people…they will be scared and confused…especially if you smell like mom.
Following her graveside service, there will be cake, ice cream, light snacks & refreshments in the white Resthaven building located North of the Cemetery. Saturday is my Momma’s Birthday, she would have been 63.
My Momma wasn’t able to ever enjoy Marijuana since she worked for Wal-Mart…Even after she had the ability to get a prescription for a Synthetic Marijuana Drug called Marinol, she still refused…Trust me, I tried to get her to smoke so she would eat and have strength…Nope, she wouldn’t do it. Once she was entered into Hospice Care, things were different…she shared a pipe with me and got the dreaded “Munchies”…it made her eat…to bad it was to late.
I am a big Cannabis Advocate as it saved my life from the nasty prescriptions I was on and I know it could have helped My Momma Live Longer if not Save Her Life…My momma even wanted to learn about Marijuana…Her fight ended and mine is just beginning.
I love my momma & my family; I have a love for chemistry, cannabis and health so I decided to create my own special blend for her from what I consider to be premium bud from Choice Organics. If you would like to join us once the formal service is finished I will have a special joint rolled for her and I’m gonna light it up in her memory & for her fight. Then we can join everyone else afterwards for “Munchies”. State of Colorado says it’s legal as long as your 21 and Resthaven has given me the permission to do this for her. I will ask that you are responsible and have a driver if needed please.
We love you Mom – Always & Forever!
