

Rodney Eugene Harris Jr., 66, of Loveland, CO, passed away at Pathways Hospice in the McKee Medical Center in Loveland on July 7, 2016. Rod was born January 27, 1950 to Rodney Harris Sr. and Esther Ehrlich in Torrington, WY. He married Sharon Armstrong on September 15, 1969 in Torrington, WY.
After serving in the U.S. Army and earning a degree from Western Nebraska Technical College in Sidney, NE, Rod worked for over 26 years in the construction industry, including over 24 years at Chief Construction in Grand Island, NE. In 1999, he opened his own home repair company. Four years later, Rod purchased Harris Manufacturing Company from his father and operated it until he retired in 2012. He was involved in Boy Scouts, United Way, Little League, Dodge School PTA, and many other organizations. Rod enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, and wood working. In 2013, after failing health, the couple moved to Loveland where they enjoyed retirement and traveling.
Rod is survived by his wife, Sharon of Loveland, father Rodney Harris Sr. of Torrington, WY, son Michael (Heather) Harris of Shawnee, KS, daughter Cyndi (Tyrel) Luthy of Severance, brothers Jerry Harris of TX, John Harris of Cedar Edge, David (Angie) Harris of Severance, Richard (Kim) Harris of Colorado Springs, sisters Lana (Steve) Snyder of Concord, CA, Beth Harris of Ft. Collins, five grandchildren: Hunter, Mackenzie, and Evan Harris, Hayden and Naomi Luthy, and several foster children including Breanna of Lincoln, NE and Makayla (Jacob) Vasquez of Kearney, NE.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28 at 1:30 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Memorial Funds for Rodney Harris Jr. Donations will be forwarded by the family to Disabled Veterans of America and Pathways Hospice.
