On Tuesday, December 27th 2022, Ronald Cruit Hendrickson passed away at the age of 84 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born to Lois and Glenn Hendrickson of Big Springs, Nebraska in 1938. Ron graduated from Big Springs High School as a state champion in football and went on to Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. While at Wesleyan, he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and received his bachelor degree in Business Administration. Ron served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1963. He began his banking career at the First National Bank in Julesburg, Colorado from 1963 until 1965. In 1965, Ron started his 50 year employment at the Farmers State Bank in Big Springs, continuing the legacy of his father who had worked there 48 years prior. Ron married Linda Storjohann in 1968. During their time together they adopted their son Brad in 1974 and although the relationship with Linda was not permanent they remained great friends until his passing. After retiring from the bank in 2015, Ron remained in Big Springs until 2020 when he decided to make the move to Colorado to be closer to his son, family, and Rio Grande margaritas. It was this move which he said was the best decision he had ever made. In Fort Collins, Ron resided at Rigden Farm Senior Living where he enjoyed each and every activity including bingo, cornhole, billiards, and the weekly outings.
Ron was an avid lover of all things sports but his three greatest passions were spending time with family, Husker football, and golf. In the midst of his time in Fort Collins, he volunteered at Mountain Vista Greens golf course fulfilling his retirement dream of being a golf course ranger. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching his family participate in high school sports, such as football, track, soccer, and volleyball - unless of course there was a Nebraska football game!
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chappell Golf Club in Chappell, Nebraska on June 24th, 2023 from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Platte High School Activities Fund. Memorials can be dropped off at the Community First Bank in Big Springs or mailed to PO Box 463 Big Springs, NE 69122.
Ron is forever loved by his son Brad and his family, Cerrell, Belle, Quinn, Will, and Maddi. Ron is also fondly remembered by countless friends, schoolmates, co-workers, and passers-by.
Cheers to you Dad!
