On October 22, 1962, the Colorado mountains welcomed a girl who would eventually find music in everything. Rosanne Corrine Lovell, better known to everyone as Rose, was born in Colorado, raised in Bakersfield, California, but eventually made her way back home to Colorado.
Rose graduated with the Class of 1980. Her career was devoted to friendly customer service, and she had a way of making the everyday transactions of life feel a bit more personal. When Rose laughed with her entire being, she brought laughter to those around her.
But it was outside the workplace where Rose’s spirit truly shone. She was a woman of deep passions, and even deeper curiosity. She was passionate about music - Rose didn’t just listen to and make music, she felt it. She enjoyed concerts shared with family and friends, always seeking out that next great live performance. When she wasn't writing lyrics, she was likely diving into the mysterious world of spiritualism or curling up for a horror movie marathon. Rose had a unique ability to find beauty in the unconventional, from the haunting halls of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park to the rugged depths of the Kern Canyon.
Her heart was as vast as the Pacific Ocean she grew up near, finding peace in the rhythm of the waves, as well as with the majesty of the Rockies. She was an animal lover and surrounded herself with her little friends.
On April 6, 2026, Rose took her final bow in Fort Collins, leaving behind a legacy of music, mystery, and a very specific kind of magic.
Rose's melody continues through her beloved daughter, Ellen Lovell; her mother, Barbara Lovell; her brother, Charles (Chip) Lovell; her nephew and niece, Jacob and Paige Chatry; and the friends who loved her and called her family.
We can picture her now, singing and dancing in her beautiful forever, swinging her feather boa and swishing her skirt. Rest well, Rosie!
