Shirley Mae Ostermiller

Shirley Mae Ostermiller, 81 of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020. Shirley was born July 9, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Raymond and Violet (Swan) Harmeier. She married Kenneth Ostermiller on May 19, 1957.

Shirley and Ken were married for 63 wonderful years, and raised two children together. Shirley said Ken always made her smile, and they were best friends and partners until her passing.

Shirley always enjoyed visiting with her two children, Cheryl and Randy, and their families. She was a self-taught hairdresser, and would cut her families hair. Shirley loved talking about her childhood memories. One of her favorite memories was going to the dairy store with her father to get a quart and pint of ice cream every night. Then, they would go home and eat the ice cream together.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ostermiller; children, Cheryl (Robert) Manka; and Randy (Dot) Ostermiller; Grandchildren, Mindy (Lucas) Stecyk; Holly (Jared) Hansmann, Robbie (Stephanie) Manka, Jamie Manka; and Great-grandchildren, Harper, Hannah, and Hayes Hansmann, Dara Manka, and Bailey Manka; Trevor, and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, November 15, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, with interment at Resthaven Memory Garden to follow; 8426 S. Highway 287; Fort Collins, Colorado 80525. The family will be hosting a light lunch following the burial at the Resthaven reception room.
