With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Shirley Joyce Stouffer (81 years). She passed away peacefully, at MacKenzie Place in Fort Collins, on July 26, 2025. She will be joined by her husband of 60 years John R. Stouffer who passed on December 21, 2022 and son Robert Stouffer (Bobby) who passed on December 21, 1986 and her family celebrates the idea that they are all together again.
Shirley was born May 21, 1944 in Cheyenne Wyoming to Harold and Merle Hardung. She graduated from East High School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart John Stouffer of Cheyenne and moved to Laramie Wyoming while John was in school at the University of Wyoming. In 1966 the year their first son, Bobby was born followed by a son, Rick, in 1967 and a daughter, Jodi in 1971. John and Shirley moved to Fort Collins in 1970 where they raised their 3 children.
Shirley was all about family. She would go to any event as long as family was involved. She was a loving, affectionate and a loyal mother and grandmother. A great deal of her time was spent watching her grandchildren play soccer, baseball, football and volleyball, plus shopping. She always prioritized her family and we cherished her presence. Shirley leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Kristin Stouffer of Fort Collins, her daughter and son-in-law, Jodi & Brandon Dreiling of Nebraska, her grandchildren-Jordan & Caitlin Stouffer, Peyton Stouffer & David Goggin, Dylan Dreiling, Kayla Dreiling, plus 5 great-grandbabies, and her siblings - Diana (Bob) Sweet, John (Carol) Hardung, Debbie McDaniel, Corine (Kirk) Morgan. She is preceded in death by her husband John, son Bobby and parents Harold and Merle.
Shirley spent the last few years fighting dementia and although that slowly took parts of her memory, her love and excitement to see each of us remained steady and unmistakable. In the end, it was that love that defined her life and legacy. She went to Heaven knowing how much we adored her. Words fail us in explaining the joy, adventure and warmth she brought to each of us. We will miss her for the rest of our lives.
Services will be held at Timberline Church in Fort Collins September 6, 2025 at 10:30AM.
