

William Louis Johnson of Fort Collins was born on January 21, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, to James and Louise A. Johnson and went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2018. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System. He graduated from the Philadelphia School of Music. He was listed in the 1971 edition of “Outstanding Young Men of America.”
Later moving to Nebraska, he was a student of the Chadron State College and a Director of the CSC Band. He was the Associate Conductor of the Nebraska Panhandle Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Fraternity, a professional Violinist, a guest conductor for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a Minister of Music for Presbyterian Churches.
Bill was a gifted violin player and music composer. In the 1980's he was the principal violinist for the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. During that time he was a professor at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne and taught instrumental music, choir and music recording classes.
Bill loved the Lord and would be seen with his violin leading the choir at First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne. He would often compose the parts that the choir and instrument accompanists would perform. He would compose music for the city orchestras as well.
Bill relocated to Fort Collins in the late 1990's and performed and composed the music for Faith Evangelical Free Church in Fort Collins. He helped with the production of the annual Christmas Musical events that the church provided for the public.
He began attending Discovery Fellowship in 2009 and has been a member since 2010. He was active on the Worship Team, playing the violin faithfully each week and playing for special music and communion. He also helped with VBS, hospitality, and setting up for Sunday services. He was a faithful prayer warrior and a humble servant of the Lord.
He is survived by brothers, Bruce Johnson of Philadelphia, PA, Brian Johnson of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and sisters, Beverley Cook, of Richmond, VA, Ethel Coleman of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Gaye Johnson Moore of Richmond, VA, a host of nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
A Celebration of his Life Service will be held Saturday, August 4 at 10:00 am at Discovery Fellowship Church, 6630 Brittany Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
