Mom's obituary -
William Douglas “Doug” Sexton passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2016 at the age of fifty. He was the beloved son of Sharon “mom” Sexton and William Frank “pops” Sexton, who died on August 2, 2014.
Doug had his own pet names for family members. He left behind his sister, Michelle “Mitz” Sexton, his two nieces Briannon “Boof” Sexton and Gabrielle “Gabby” Sexton. He also left his nephew Kodiak “Bubba” Sexton and his great nephew Thorin Sexton.
Doug met Christina “sweets” Berendt, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, and his one and only wife and they were married while Doug attended CSU. Their son, Nicholas, “hey boy” and Poopsie” Sexton was the apple of his dad’s eye. Sadly, Nick died in a car accident on July 2, 2005 at the age of twenty. Nick grew up close to three treasured friends, Shannon “Daza” Harre, Sarah “sweetie” and Mark Miller. Doug loved these children as if they were his own.
Doug showed so much love to all of the people in his life. If anyone needed him, he was there, a gentle giant to protect, offer money, give very sound advice, encourage someone of just be there to listen. He had a great sense of humor, told cute jokes, loved to entertain and get together with his friends for barbecues and feed them his great cooking. Friends said “Doug was so generous and he would give you the shirt off his back”. He saw the best in people and brought out the best in them. They were drawn to him and loved being around him.
Doug was the greatest son, brother, husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend anyone could ever have. The impact he had on so many people he touched in his short lifetime will be cherished by them and his memory will never die.
We Sextons draw comfort and joy knowing that Doug is happy in heaven with his son, dad and grandpa and all of the family will be together again.
