

Alan Clare Esser was born on May 3, 1928 in Aurora, Illinois, and died on March 17th in Fullerton, CA. He is survived by his wife of 63 plus years, Regina Schaefer Esser, five children - Laura Esser Erland, Linda Esser Molina, Patricia Esser Lang, Gerald Esser and Mary Esser Tinsley - and eight grandchildren. All of the family resides in Southern California. Alan graduated from Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois, in 1946 and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1951. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army and served 24 years in the Corps of Engineers. His assignments took him to Korea, Japan, Germany, West Point, Alaska, Vietnam, Hawaii and New Mexico. He retired from active duty in 1975 as a Colonel while stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1976 the family moved to Fullerton when Alan accepted a position as Project Manager for Holmes & Narver, Inc. He served in this capacity for fifteen years with projects in Antarctica, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Alaska, and many other locations. In 1991 he retired again and devoted much of his time to charitable works. He was member of the Pastoral Council at St. Juliana Catholic Church as well as the Facilities Commission, and was a Past Grand Knight of the Fullerton Council of the Knights of Columbus. Viewing will be 6-8 PM on Wed. Mar. 25 with a rosary at 6:30 PM at St. Juliana's Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be 10 AM Thur. Mar. 26. at St. Juliana's Church.
