Barbara Nease Edwards, best known to her friends as Jeanne, passed away on January 3, 1213 at the age of 86. Jeanne was married to Donald Wayne Edwards, who predeceased her in 1993. They enjoyed 46 years together. She is survived by her daughter, Patrice Andrea Stanley (Timothy) and two grandchildren, Alexandra Clary and Graydon Edwards Stanley. Jeanne will be buried in Arlington Cemetery alongside her husband, a former thoracic surgeon who served in the United States Navy. During his Navy career, the young couple did a tour of duty from 1961 to 1963 in Japan. Jeanne and Don became connoisseur and collectors of Japanese art, woodblocks, and furnishing. They continued collecting upon their return to the States. Jeanne and Don raised and showed Boxer dogs beginning in the 1960's. Jeanne continued to be an active participant in this endeavor for many years after they no longer owned dogs. Wherever there was a party you could find Jeanne, as often as not she planned it. She loved people and getting together. She spent time in the travel business and an important aspect of that was being able to travel with her family and friends. She served her community in many ways. She was active in Damas de Caridad, a support group for St. Jude Medical Center - she held every chair - president in 1984 and Bal Chairman both in 1982 and 1986. Her favorite spot by far was being Floral Chairman. She loved working with the creative florists. She also was active in Children's Home Society, and served as Chapter President. Her friends describe her as having a great sense of humor, exceedingly dedicated and an overall unique person. A celebration of her life was had by family and close friends on January 9, 2013.
