Charles Hoi Kwong Cheung

According to his passport, he was born on November 4, 1928 in Hong Kong. He married the girl next door, Gwynne Wu, on November 29, 1958 then emigrated to the United States in 1962, settling in Los Angeles and Fullerton.

Charlie continued his studies in the U.S. to qualify for his civil and structural engineering license. His work included a housing development and swimming pool in Borneo, the Cathay Bank in Los Angeles, the first hangar for jumbo jets at LAX, oil refineries in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, and the design of the satellite payload compartment of the Delta II Rocket for McDonnell Douglas.

He enjoyed investing in the US stock market, traveling, shopping for bargains and writing stories and poetry. He was an excellent cook and loved to prepare meals for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Gwynne and their children Albert (Jennifer), Jacqueline (Eric Gleason), Jennifer (Steven Nilsson), and Francis (Robin); his grandchildren Benjamin, Nicholas, Natalie, Nichole, Kyle, and Megan; and great-grandchildren Nathaniel and Devynne. He is also survived by his sister Myrna Medina and brother Leon Chang.

He was an endless source of wisdom, encouraging his children and grandchildren to achieve success through studying hard, working hard, and being thrifty.
