Donald Fred Foss Sr.

Donald Fred Foss passed peacefully at his home that he shared with the love of his life, wife Barbara of 64 years. Born on September 11, 1930 in North Platte, Nebraska he moved to California in 1941. He resided in Whittier and La Mirada for over 60 years. His high school and college days were devoted to sports, especially football and track. After graduation he was in the Coast Guard and soon met his wife Barbara, with whom he raised 7 children. Donald's life was involved with helping others and he was extremely active in his community. He was a frequent lecture at his church, he donated time and money to the Rotary International Club and he was a member of Toastmaster International for 60+ years.  He was a mentor to Santa Fe Springs high school students through his involvement with the Chamber of Commerce and he was awarded Santa Fe Springs "Man of the Year" in 1981. Along with his father, 2 brothers and five sons he operated Foss Plating Company for over 50 years until retirement in 2009. Donald is survived by his loving wife, 7 children, 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Viewing 6-8 PM Thurs. Oct 5 with Rosary at 7 PM at Beatitudes of Our Lord. Mass10AM Fri.
