
Herman F. Beverburg was born in Gillett, Arkansas on August 23rd1922.He joined the National Guard and served for the army in the AleutianIslands during WWII.After the war he continued his schooling at the Arkansas A & M andthrough his friend he had served with, met his wife Jean, they were marriedJanuary 1st 1948. He transferred to Texas A & M and received his degree inelectrical engineering. During their time there, His oldest son Stephen wasborn. After graduating they returned to Arkansas where their second son Brucewas born.In 1955 they moved to California to work for Hughes Aircraft. For hiswork with Hughes he traveled to many places including various citiesthroughout Europe. He worked at Hughes until he retired in 1987.After retirement he and his wife traveled to Australia to visit their sonBruce and their grandchildren in central Australia and in recent years hasgotten to know his great grandchildren. One of whom on hearing his wife callhim for dinner decided that his name must be “Honey”.Herman was always learning and doing new things. He had his pilotslicense, was a HAM radio operator, learned VCR and computer repair, built adollhouse for his granddaughter and Bee keeping boxes for his friend. He wasactively involved with the Boy Scouts when his sons were young. He was onthe Airport Land Use Commission for more years than anyone remembers. Heenjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader and was always in themiddle of several library books. He volunteered at the La Mirada SeniorCenter. He created an oral history dvd while there. He also particularly enjoyedworking in their computer lab.He passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday morning June 15th2016. He leaves behind, his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and so many other friends and relatives who will miss himdearly.
