Indalecio Chaves

Born in Costa Rica, with limited education he persevered by teaching himself to read, write, and do math. At the age of 40, he took a courageous step. Not knowing English, he immigrated to the United States to build a better life for his family.

He worked as an automobile painter and took great pride in his craft, becoming known for the quality of his work. A devoted family man, he always placed his family first and worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for those he loved.

A man of deep faith, he held a lifelong devotion to the Virgen de los Ángeles (Patrona de Costa Rica). He remained devoted to prayer throughout his life and even in his final hours.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mario Roberto Chaves, who passed away four years earlier on the same date, a day that now carries a deeper meaning for the family.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Donelia Chaves Mattey, with whom he shared the sacred sacrament of marriage for 73 years and his children:

- Sonia Maria Fay (Samuel Mora)

- Ligia Maria Hemaidan (Jihad Hemaidan)

- Maria Eugenia Roberts (John Roberts)

- Marlene Maria Cantu-Chaves

- Alberto Enrique Chaves (Rosie Chaves)

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of faith, strength, and love for family.

He will be remembered for his hard work, his devotion to his family and his deep faith in our Lord Jesus Christ to whom he consecrated his life.

May he now rest in the peace of God, embraced by the love of the family who went before him and watched over by the Virgen de los Ángeles (Patrona de Costa Rica).

Obituario

Indalecio Chaves, amado esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo, falleció pacíficamente rodeado de su amorosa familia a la edad de 96 años.

Nacido en Costa Rica, con una educación limitada, perseveró enseñándose a leer, escribir y hacer matemáticas. A la edad de 40 años, dio un paso valiente. Al no saber inglés, emigró a los Estados Unidos para construir una vida mejor para su familia.

Trabajó como pintor de automóviles y se enorgulleció mucho de su oficio, haciéndose conocido por la calidad de su trabajo. Un hombre de familia devoto, siempre puso a su familia en primer lugar y trabajó incansablemente durante toda su vida para mantener a aquellos que amaba.

Un hombre de profunda fe, mantuvo una devoción de por vida a la Virgen de los Ángeles (Patrona de Costa Rica). Permaneció dedicado a la oración durante toda su vida e incluso en sus últimas horas.

Fue precedido en la muerte por su hijo, Mario Roberto Chaves, quien falleció cuatro años antes en la misma fecha, un día que ahora tiene un significado más profundo para la familia.

Será recordado por su arduo trabajo, su devoción a su familia y su profunda fe en nuestro señor Jesúcristo a quien consagró su vida.

Que ahora encuentre descanso eterno en la paz de Dios, envuelto en el amor de su familia que lo precedió y bajo el amparo de la Virgen de los Ángeles,(Patrona de Costa Rica).
