Ival Harold Harrington was born July 10, 1934. He was born to Ralph and Virgie Harrington in King City, California. Harold graduated from King City High School. After high school, Harold worked as a gas station attendant. Over the years, he hauled tomatoes and baled and hauled hay. Harold worked in the oil fields of King City and San Ardo, and eventually owned a backhoe excavation business. He was forced into early retirement by an unfortunate accident in his early 50’s.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn, his parents, and brothers, Dwain and Lindle. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Mark) Smith from College Station, Texas and Gayle (Ric) Helman, granddaughters Heather and Meagan Helman all of Queen Creek, Arizona, and a brother James Harrington of San Ardo, California.
To most friends, he was known as “Skip” or “Harold.” To his granddaughters, it was “Pop.” It was never “Ival.”
Harold was active in Full Gospel Church in King City most of his adult life as a deacon member. He and Evelyn moved to Southern California to be near their granddaughters
in 1990. He and Evelyn attended several churches while they lived in Southern California and made friends along the way. In 2019, Harold moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Yorba Linda, California, where he received assisted care until his passing.
The family thanks Sunrise Senior Living for the care they’ve given Harold over the last six years where he became friends with so many of the workers.
Services in Central California are pending. If so inclined, memorial gifts may be made to Gideon’s International, https://www.gideons.org/donate.
