JoAnn Carol Varnes Wallace was born February 19,1945 in El Monte CA. She graduated from El Monte High School. In 1967 she graduated from Whittier College. She received her Masters of Arts in Health and Safety from CSULA on December 17, 1977.
JoAnn spent 41 years teaching Health and a variety of Art classes at Rancho-Starbuck Intermediate School. She spent much of her free time supporting her students and fellow teachers in extra curricular activities. Many of these focused on Health, safety and trying to make the world a better place. JoAnn had an appropriate costume for each event.
JoAnn also supported a variety of political candidates and causes. Being an active member of her teachers association at the local and state level provided her with many adventures. It also brought her many awards and recognition.
The one thing JoAnn loved most were her cats… there were many! They were always a constant in her life. They gave her comfort and companionship after she retired and through her various illnesses.
