

John Joseph Sperlazzo, 97, of Anaheim Hills California, passed peacefully into eternal life on January 23, 2026. John was born on November 20, 1928 in Cliffside Park, New Jersey to the late Salvatore and Rosina Sperlazzo. He was the youngest of four children and was pre-deceased by his siblings, Anthony Sperlazzo, Joseph Sperlazzo, and Josephine Poehler. John is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Norma, and his sons Robert Sperlazzo, Thomas Sperlazzo (Susan), grandsons Joseph Sperlazzo, Peter Sperlazzo (Jessica), step granddaughter Liza Ricco, and two great granddaughters. John is also survived by his niece Diana Dozois and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Victor and Fran Fusco.
After John got married, he was drafted in the Army during the Korean War where he served for two years. John was a proud veteran of the war having served his country. Upon discharge from the Army, John lived in Bergenfield, New Jersey for more than 40 years.
John worked as an auto mechanic and eventually transitioned to a truck diesel engine mechanic. He later was promoted to a sales engineer for diesel engines and generators for Penske Power until he retired in 1993. He was responsible for many major accounts including providing backup power for the World Trade Center in New York City and many major metropolitan hospitals.
John retired with his wife to Melbourne Florida where he enjoyed 25 happy years and made many life-long friends. John also maintained his New Jersey friendships until his passing. They moved to California in 2019 to be closer to family.
John will be remembered for his deep and abiding fidelity and service to his wife, family, friends, and neighbors. John was a man of service always helping anyone who asked for it or needed it.
John’s funeral mass will be held on February 16, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s church in Palm Bay Florida. His internment will follow at noon at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Chapel of Peace, in Palm Bay Florida.
