Joseph Dylan Hassan

Joseph Dylan Hassan, age 49, passed away July 24, 2019 with his mother by his side.  Joe came into this world two months early and cancer took him far too soon. He has fought so hard, time and time again, to be here with us, but it is now time for him to rest.

Growing up in Whittier, CA, Joe graduated from Cal High in 1987 and joined the U.S. Army after graduation.  A series of events led up to Joe becoming paralyzed when he was 18, but the wheelchair never stopped him. He found purpose, continually inspiring people with his positivity. He impacted many people in the wheelchair community, on and off the basketball court and by becoming a mentor in the last few years to new injuries.  Joe’s greatest accomplishment was becoming a dad. The laughter they shared, is what will be missed the most.

Joe is survived by his mother, Patricia, his sons Dylan and RJ, his brother Justin, sister Joeanna and countless family members and friends that love him madly.  

Family & Friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life on Thursday, August 15th at Coyote Hills Golf Course (1440 E. Bastanchury Rd., Fullerton).  The celebration will begin at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to a cancer charity of your choosing.
